February 13 to April 14, 2023

Bourstad is an annual stock market simulation in which students from different schools all around the province compete to own the best portfolio. At the start, each student has a notional amount of 200 000$ and chooses to invest it in certain stocks, hoping that they will increase in value during the competition.

In this stock market challenge, my ultimate goal was not to win, but rather to capitalize on this opportunity to increase my knowledge regarding portfolio management, financial performance, and sustaining investment. The Honours students were fortunate enough to receive sound advice from philosophy teacher Marc-Antoine Dubé, who taught us the basics of the stock market and investment, giving us an enriching Bourstad experience both financially and intellectually.

Throughout the competition, I did not hesitate to take some risks with my portfolio, selling and buying shares more than once. At times, this strategy paid off handsomely, as I broke into the top 10 in Quebec. Ultimately, I ended the competition with a profit on my investment, which was my initial goal, so I was very satisfied with my performance!
