My colleagues from the Honours Program and I had the great opportunity to receive a private tour of McGill University's downtown Montreal campus. This experience gave us a better sense of what it feels like to study at McGill and enlightened us on the different programs offered by this world-renowned university.
First off, we were welcomed by Camille, a student from the Faculty of Management, who walked with us around the campus as well as inside a few faculties, while presenting the history and the legacy of McGill, 202 years after its foundation in 1821. She also spoke about the different extracurriculars offered to McGill students, from clubs to sports teams.
We then headed to the Faculty of Law for a special visit led by Mathieu, a law student. From the magnificent library to the historical classrooms, we got to put ourselves in the shoes of law students for a moment and it was very special. Furthermore, a few of us are planning on applying to McGill Law; therefore, Mathieu talked to us about his own experience and gave us some key insight into the admission process.
Finally, we got to meet the faculty's admission department managers, who further explained the requirements for admission (documents to be submitted, profiles they are looking for, interview process, tips) and answered our questions.
In brief, I felt very fortunate to be a part of this tour, as it solidified my strong desire to study at McGill's Faculty of Law. Visiting the faculty and the classes in which I could possibly study after CEGEP firmly motivated me to work twice as hard to achieve my goal.
