McMUN 2023

January 26 to January 29, 2023

McMUN 2023 was the very first time I attended a Model United Nations conference and it was definitely one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. During 4 days, my colleagues from the Model UN committee and I had the tremendous opportunity to surpass ourselves on several levels; taking our public-speaking skills to the next level, engaging in discussions about pressing issues with young adults from all over the world, learning to write cutting-edge directives after key negotiations, and building relationships with delegates just as passionate for diplomacy and international relations as we are.

I had been anticipating this event for a while, as I wished to participate in such an event even before I came to Sainte-Anne. It was far from being easy in the first committee sessions, but gradually, I began to take my place in my committee, speaking up more and more for the interests of the historical figure I was representing, Senator Juan Jose Neira.

Because of its international reputation and its annual presence in the rankings of the best MUNs in North America, McGill's Model UN Assembly consistently attracts the best delegates, which makes the experience even more instructive. Being surrounded by high-level delegates, who propose innovative ideas, who express themselves with such ease, and who master the art of negotiation has truly brought out the best in me. The knowledge I gained from this conference will stay with me for the rest of my life, that is for sure!

I am already looking forward to my next conference, where I'll hopefully be able to reach new heights!
